Diversity and equity
Diversity and equity are not only a must from a societal perspective, but a necessary part of any smart business or organization. I have witnessed and experienced what happens when diverse perspectives are excluded or silenced when working in agriculture and the environment; we cannot find solutions, strengthen our cultures or utilize the full potential and richness of our communities.
Empowering women
As a woman in science, I am committed to supporting the next generation of women in science and honoring those who have supported us along the way. I feature many incredible women on the podcast, and awarded a yearly scholarship to exceptional young women pursuing careers in STEM fields.
Cultivating inclusion
In agriculture, and science as a whole, creating inclusive environments is a continued priority. I understand the power of belonging; especially in spaces that have not always been this way. All of my work is informed by including those with different ideas, backgrounds and expertise so that we can find real solutions, and we can actively move away from historically biased systems.
Supporting students
I am passionate about supporting students in science, as well as engaging the next generation. I often think about ways to support students and encourage the next generation of problem solvers.
